I'm looking for an engagement ring, and see the term" light 1 carat" used a lot. What does that mean?

A light 1 ct. diamond means the weight comes in at under the 1.00 ct. mark. Usually .90-.99 ct is considered a light 1 ct.

This is a great way to save yourself some money ,because these stones can be sold for a cheaper price. as the prices  jump quite a bit once they reach 1 ct. mark. Visually there's very little difference in the sizes.
