Laser inscribed 

I've been hearing about laser inscribed diamonds, could you please explain what that term means?

Usually when a diamond is laser inscribed it means that the certificate number has been engraved with a very fine, precise laser beam, on the girdle of the diamond. The girdle is the outer perimeter, or edge, of the diamond. The inscription is microscopic-- totally invisible to the naked eye.
